Impact 100 Baldwin County

A Game-Changing Grant!

Pickleball mania continues to sweep the country, and Lillian Recreational Park (LRP) will soon be among the places with dedicated courts. Thanks to a 2022 Impact 100 grant, construction on the courts has already begun!

The drag machine for maintaining the ball fields was delivered, and the wood chipper arrived mid-January. The benches and shade structures will be additional items to add to the Pickleball courts and the dog park area, with more around the walking trail.

The courts are a piece of what LRP, which does not receive government funds, is improving with grant money. The Christmas in the Park decorations are all snug in a new shipping container (as opposed to being scattered around the park and in storage units). A kitchen upgrade is in the works, which will allow for a nicer area for rentals for weddings, birthday parties and more. Two of three dog waste stations have been set up already. The new and improved dog run will be installed in a few months.
